Sweet Endings Dessert Contest - Get ready for the Sweet Endings Dessert
Contest, part of the Lansdowne Farmers Market's
Fall Festival on Saturday, October 18! To enter, prepare your best cake, pie, pudding, or whatever to
be a part of the deciding taste-off. Desserts must include some ingredients purchased at the Farmers
Market and should be seasonal. Rules and entry forms can be
downloaded,
picked up at the Farmers Market or at Mission Burrito.
Tree Expo At Lansdowne Friends School -
Bring the family for a morning of fun and exploration. Fifth and sixth graders
will prepare a benefit pancake breakfast open to the public from 9-10 am
on Saturday, October 18 (limited seating, call for reservations), followed
by a Tree Expo, a day of inquiry, from 10 to noon. Join in student-led
investigations examining the science of trees.

Lunchtime Lecture Series at the Lansdowne Public Library - 12:00pm.
The Lansdowne Public Library is pleased to announce a new Lunch Time
Lecture Series featuring a variety of topics. Our first guest is Dr. Linda Callans from
Crozer-Keystone Health System. The program is open to all who want to attend.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Board Certified Breast Surgeon Dr. Linda
Callans will lead a discussion on the Risk and Prevention of Breast Cancer. Join us Friday,
October 24th at 12:00PM. Please feel free to bring lunch, drinks and desserts will be provided
by us! Registration is required for this event. Please call, e-mail, use Event Keeper or stop by the
library to register.
This presentation will include discussion of the incidence of breast cancer and who is high
risk for developing breast cancer, focusing on personal and family history and genetic risk factors.
Management of high-risk individuals will be discussed, with recommendations for increased
monitoring, lifestyle and prevention. Self-breast examination technique may be reviewed.

at Sycamore Park (Lacrosse & Wycombe Aves. in Lansdowne). There will

parade, face painting,
“Stupid Pet Tricks”, and more! Pet Food Donations:

first 50 people to bring donated pet food will receive a free “I'm an

St. Paul's Harvest Festival - 2-4pm. Everyone is invited to
St. Paul's Harvest Festival. The free afternoon offers games for
elementary-aged children such as Haystack Scramble and Bobbing for Apples.
Celebrate fall at several craft stations, including pumpkin painting, cookie
decorating and more. St. Paul Lutheran Church is located at 50 East
Plumstead Avenue.
