No Place For HateLansdowne is a sleepy little hamlet, a pleasant Borough. Those of us who live here love it and enjoy its history. We revel in the changes that have occurred over the years. We welcome the changes in population and the increasing cultural and racial diversity.
The first step in the process is to make a proclamation declaring Lansdowne to be a "No Place For Hate" community. This was done in February (click here). Along with the proclamation, the Borough has agreed to complete three activities that will promote the Anti-Defamation League message. A committee was formed to select the three activities. The first activity submitted for approval to the ADL was the Lansdowne Borough website. The website was designed as an inclusive resource for the residents of the Borough. As such, the website works to bring us all together. With a community calendar, Borough meeting minutes, Borough Newsletter, and links to relevant sites, the website has proven itself as a great communicator of what is going on in Lansdowne. The second activity will be a school project. The committee has not yet submitted their recommendation. The agreed upon project will be offered to all the schools in Lansdowne. The third activity will be the "Snowflake Gathering". The purpose of the gathering will be to provide a venue for all our residents to get acquainted and mingle. We hope to provide an opportunity for meeting people with whom you may not usually connect. As the year progresses and we get closer to reaching our goal of the "No Place For Hate" designation, we will begin planning a public ceremony in celebration. Keep coming back to the website for more information. — Mayor Jayne Young Additional NPFH Information |
