Clear Channel radio stations Power 99 & Q102 are the newest Project Partners of the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) No Place for Hate® program. The stations join the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News, and WPVI-TV in supporting this innovative initiative.
No Place for Hate® was developed by the ADL to empower people to challenge anti-Semitism, racism, homophobia and all forms of bigotry in their communities and schools. To become certified as No Place for Hate®, a community or school adopts a proclamation affirming a commitment to combating bias and fostering harmony, forms a committee to oversee the program and completes three community or school-wide programs that promote an appreciation for diversity.
The new partnership with Power 99 and Q102 is an exciting step towards increasing the programs visibility in the region and furthering the No Place for Hate® mission to create inclusive neighborhoods and classrooms.
Loraine Ballard Morrill, News and Community Affairs Director for Clear Channel Radio in Philadelphia says, "We are honored to be a part of this extraordinary project. Power 99 FM and Q102 are stations that reach the audience that needs to hear these messages of tolerance. No Place for Hate is a project needed now more than ever. We are glad to do our part."
Barry Morrison, Regional Director, applauded Clear Channel and radio stations Power 99 and Q102 for joining with the League and its Project Partners in this effort. "These two stations are demonstrating a commitment to fighting the scourge of hatred which continues to plague our society and to give direction and leadership to those who seek to foster positive ways of promoting goodwill among people of different backgrounds. Combating hatred is something that we have to work at every day and use all resources — media, schools, government leaders, church officials. The more who participate in this effort, the more likely it is to succeed."
To kick off the partnership, Q102 will broadcast live from the Boyertown 2nd Annual Unity Walk, this Sunday, October 16th. All ten schools in the Boyertown school district will participate in the walk as part of their participation in the No Place for Hate® program.
