Thank You For Your Years of Service
The December 2007 meeting was the last one for Councilwoman Ann Hill.
Thank you so much for your years of service to Lansdowne Borough, and for your enthusiasm, creativity and dedication.

Our new borough manager, Craig Totaro, hard at work.
After only a few months on the job Craig is doing well here. His energetic and creative approach to the job has earned rave reviews by both staff and council.

 2007 Helms Award Winner
"Give the world the best you have and the best will come back to you. I have received that," said Mary Lou Jennings when she accepted Lansdowne's prestigious Helms award at a recent borough council meeting.
Also on her service list were a number of Ardmore Elementary School projects for which she volunteered. She taught religious education at St. Philomena School and she was a member of the Twentieth Century Club.
Currently she is president of the Lansdowne Tree Advisory Board and has been instrumental in getting 150 trees donated to the borough by Tree Vitalize in the last two years. To keep better control and reduce loss of trees, she is vehemently working to create a Lansdowne Shade Tree Commission.

 Sergeant Rutherford!
Officer Kenneth Rutherford was sworn in for his new position as Sergeant with the Lansdowne Police Department. Sergeant Rutherford is our newest Criminal Investigator replacing Detective John Murphy who retired last year.

 Rotary Club Honors Officer

 VIP Visit
Your State Senator Anthony Williams
and your Representative Nick Micozzie attended the Lansdowne
Borough Council meeting to receive public thanks for
all they do for the borough.

 American Legion Honor
Joe Doan our 109 year young resident was recognised
for his 85 year membership, by the State Commander of
the American Legion, Robert Shalala. He is joined here
by members of the Local American Legion post 65 Albert
Clinton Wunderlich. This post meets on the third Tuesday
January through May at 7:30 at the Lansdowne Borough Hall.

 Helms Award
Marykay Bowden is the 2004 Recipient of the "Helms Award".
This award is given annually to a resident of the Borough
who performs "service beyond all recompense". It is named
for former Mayor William Helms. Marykay receives the Helms
Award from Mayor Jayne Young as past recipients look on

 Mayor Jayne - ready for duty!

 Caring Citizen Award
This is young Tom Young receiving the
Lansdowne Caring Citizen Award for bravery. He participated
in the rescue of young children trapped by a fallen tree.
None of the children were injured but Tom Young remained
calm and collected when the tree fell and without regard
for his personal safety, he helped remove the children
entwined in the fallen trees branches.

 Caring Citizen Award
Paige Tucker, 7, received the "Lansdowne Caring Citizen
Award" from Mayor Jayne Young at a recent Borough Council
meeting. Paige donated 10 inches of her long brown tresses
to the "Locks of Love" program, a Florida organization
that makes hairpieces for children with long-term medical
hair loss.

Eagle Scout Awards
Four memebers of Boy Scout Troop #333 were recently
awarded the highest achievment and named Eagle Scouts.
Only 4% of Boy Scouts attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
Eagles Scouts have gone on to become a U.S. President,
a Supreme Court Justice, astronaut, Olympic atheletes

 Fire Chief Retires
Fire Chief Robert Herre retired after six years,
eight years as Assistant Chief and 43 years of service
overall to the Lansdowne Volunteer Fire Company. He is
pictured with Mayor Jayne Young at December's Borough
Council meeting.

 Sanitation Department Supervisor Recognized
Sanitation Department Supervisor Leroy Church was
recognized for his 34 years of service to the Borough
of Lansdowne. Mr. Church maintained perfect attendance
every year during his career here. He is joined by his
wife Francis as Mayor Janye Young presents him with a
plaque.

Fire Truck Sale
After a year of being on the market, Company 19 in
Lansdowne has sold its pumper to the Lakeview Volunteer
Fire Department of Mooresburg, Tennessee. Lakeview has
been operating since 1977. With a shoestring budget and
aging equipment, they were thrilled to purchase our pumper.
