Household Hazardous Waste

Household trash and garbage are collected twice a week from the rear of the property of all residences. Do not place articles on top of or in the immediate area of trash cans if you do not want to dispose of them. Trash is to be stored in strong containers with tightly fitted lids.

The collection for the East side of town (east of Lansdowne Avenue plus a section of Ardmore, Willowbrook and Marlyn Avenues) is held on Monday and Thursday.

The collection for the West side of town is held on Tuesday and Friday.

Recycling Program

2008 Recycling Schedules

Single Stream Recycling
Beginning February 1st, 2007
"Recycling Made Simple"

It ALL goes in together:

  • Newspapers, Magazines, Catalogs
  • Telephone/Soft Cover Books
  • Junk Mail/Envelopes (all types)
  • Paper (all colors, staples/paperclips are okay)
  • Paperboard (cereal boxes - remove plastic liner, beer & soda carriers)
  • Cardboard/Brown Paper Bags
  • Plastic narrow neck bottles numbered #1-2
  • (Soda/Juice/Water Bottles, Milk Jugs, Bleach/Detergent, Shampoo Bottles)
  • Glass Bottles/Jars (any color)
  • Metal Cans (tin/steel/aluminum)

Please remove all lids and rinse...

What NOT to include:

  • No Plastic Bags
  • No Unmarked Plastics (laundry baskets/chairs/toys)
  • No Windows/Light Bulbs
  • No Dishes, No Pyrex, No Ceramics
  • No Foam Packaging, No Styrofoam
  • No Recyclables Containing Food Waste

Bulk Trash Collection

Starting April 1, 2004 Lansdowne is starting a new bulk trash program which provides year-round pick up and replaces the former once-per-year program.

2008 Collection Schedule

The HHW Collection Events will be held between 9 am and 3 pm, rain or shine:

Sat., March 29th, 2008 Marple Transfer Station, Broomall
Sat., April 26th, 2008 Emergency Services Training Center (Darby Twp.)
Sat., Sept. 20th, 2008 Covanta Delaware Valley, L.P. (Chester)
Thu., Oct. 16th, 2008 Rose Tree Park (Media)
Computers, Monitors, Scanners, Printers, Portable TVs.
MAX 3 computer systems and/or TV's per vehicle.

This program is offered as a community service and is not open to business, industry or institutions.
