Free Guide Dog Educational Event at Lansdowne Library

Sunday, February 9, 2020

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Guide Dogs, February 9th at the Lansdowne Library February is Love Your Pets Month in Lansdowne, and this year's educational program features longtime Lansdowne resident and Renaissance man, Dan Simpson, and his guide dog, Boone. Dan Simpson, along with his dog, is a very familiar figure around the Borough of Lansdowne, having lived there for 26 years. Simpson started his professional life as a high school English teacher. He now edits, teaches, and serves as Technical Support for the Library of Congress Digital Book Download Program. He has authored two books as a renowned poet, served as Lansdowne's Poet Laureate, and he sings with the Mendelssohn Club. Simpson also happens to be blind. He has had guide dogs for the past 38 years. Five year-old Boone has partnered with him for three years and is his 5th guide dog.
