The Environmental Advisory Council Wants to Hear from You
Lansdowne’s Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) is a small group with big ideas. The Environmental Advisory Council was established in 2018 to advise Borough Council and Borough Committees as well as educate the citizens of the Borough on matters that affect the quality of the environment within Lansdowne. EAC focuses on the protection, conservation, management, promotion, and use of natural resources.
Dana Robinson, a member of the EAC, comments that “It’s a big charter, which makes prioritization an important part of our job.” The Council has focused its efforts on an energy transition plan for the Borough and achieving the goal set by Borough Council of running on 100% renewable energy.
“A big goal like transitioning to alternative energy takes partnership between the council, staff, residents and businesses of the Borough. We serve as a catalyst to spark the right discussions and bring the right people together,” says Robinson.
The EAC is currently surveying residents and business owners on the environmental initiatives they would like to see in our community. The survey includes a wide range of topics from composting and hiking trails to electric vehicles and solar panels. The survey also considers what’s important to residents, what they have been doing, what they would like to learn more about, and where they might like to get involved.
The survey takes less than 5 minutes, and can be accessed here. (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/C5C9LZB)
“We’re excited to make this survey available to residents because public engagement is a hallmark of our Borough. We encourage residents to take the survey, spread the word to friends and neighbors, and come join us at one of our meetings if this is a topic of interest to you,” says Robinson.
The Environmental Advisory Council meets the first Friday of each month at Borough Hall. Please check the Borough calendar for updates.
