Since Tuesday August 4, 2020, you may be asking yourself “this is happening again? How come?”
The Darby Creek Valley Association has been struggling with this question for years and they need our help! According to their recent article, flooding is not only caused by the amount of rainfall (up to 7.48” in Delaware County in one day) but runoff from properties, runoff which goes straight into our streams and creeks.
How can the individual homeowner and property owner help? The DCVA offers “The Stormwater House Call” option, to understand better how your property is contributing to stormwater runoff. If you qualify, they will come to you and evaluate your situation. They will make recommendations which are often very easy to implement. If you qualify, they may have available free rain garden supplies, free rain barrels and other control measures. Be sure to contact them because Darby Creek and the Lansdowne folks who live and work on its banks need you. Their website is https://www.dcva.org/Stream-Smart/ .
