January 17, 2021, Letter from Mayor Anthony Campuzano

I’m not sure about you but I’m sure glad to be done with 2020.  It was a very challenging and scary year for all of us for a number of reasons.  Hopefully with new leadership in Washington we can begin to heal and come together to solve the problems we are dealing with.  The most serious is the pandemic because this affects everything else. This affects all Americans.  It is a real and serious problem. I know because I had it.  As we look forward to 2021, and changes in our government, I feel confident that vaccine distribution and prevention measures will be a priority and will lead to a better health outlook for every citizen and will also help get our economy back on track.

I’m looking forward to 2021 to hopefully get back to some normalization in our everyday lives.  It’s not going to change immediately and we have to be patient.  Everyone needs to continue to follow the CDC guidelines, wear a mask and get vaccinated. We also need to continue to reach out and help each other.  We got through 2020 together and together we can make 2021 better for all of us.  I’m sure of this because that’s what we do here in Lansdowne.

As I finish up my last year as Mayor, I am committed more than ever to get Lansdowne back to where we were before the pandemic and continue the progress. I look forward to working with Borough Council, Borough staff, Police and Fire and all Lansdowne groups to make Lansdowne a great place to live.

Congratulations to resident, Jim Klingler who received the 2020 Helmes Award.  I have known Jim and his family for a long time and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the Borough’s highest award for service.  Some of the things Jim has volunteered for here in Lansdowne are serving on Borough Council for six years, presently serving on the Borough Zoning Board on which Jim is the longest serving member. Jim has also coached in the boys and girls club, coordinated the Union AA 4th of July celebrations, Lansdowne Folk Club performances, is a Lansdowne Farmers Market volunteer, Boys Scout leader, and elder at his church.  On behalf of the Borough, I thank Jim for all of his work and it was my honor to give him this award.

It is my hope that in 2021, we can get back to having our council meetings in person and have a Town Forum for our residents as we have had in the past.  Also I look forward to a time when we can get together as a community and enjoy all the events and celebrations that have been a mainstay in the past here in Lansdowne.

Please wear a mask and stay safe.

Hope to see you around town.

Thanks,

Mayor Tony
