May 2021 Primary FAQ's

PA Primary Election Questions


  1. When is the Pennsylvania Primary Election?  Tuesday, May 18, 2021
  2. What is the last day to register?    Monday, May 3, 2021
  3. Will the polling places be the same as in November?  Yes in Lansdowne.  Might not be the same in other boroughs.
  4. If I voted by mail last year, do I need to apply again this year?  Yes
  5. How do I apply to vote by mail? Go to https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/ and click on “Mail-in Ballot”
  6. Will there be drop boxes for mail-in ballots?  Yes
  7. Will there be satellite election offices?  No, but you may leave your mail-in ballot at the Media courthouse election office.
  8. Can registered Independents vote in the primary?  Independents may not vote for the Democratic or Republican candidates, but they may vote for the proposed PA Constitutional Amendments on the ballot.
  9. What is on the ballot?

Lansdowne Borough Offices

  • Mayor
  • Borough Council – 3 positions
  • Tax Collector
  • William Penn School District Board Director
  • Constable

Delaware County Offices

  • County Council – 2 positions
  • Sheriff
  • Controller
  • Register of Wills
  • Court of Common Pleas – 2 positions

Pennsylvania Offices

  • Supreme Court
  • Superior Court
  • Commonwealth Court – 2 positions

Constitutional Amendments

  • Pennsylvania Legislative Resolution to Extend or Terminate Emergency Declaration Amendment. Allows the PA General Assembly to extend or terminate the Governor’s emergency declaration.
  • Pennsylvania Equal Rights Regardless of Race or Ethnicity Amendment. Adds language to the PA Constitution that prohibits the denial or abridgement of rights based on race or ethnicity.
  • Pennsylvania Emergency Declarations Amendment. Limits governor’s emergency declaration to 21 days unless the legislature votes to extend the order.

These are very important ballot measures.  Independents, Democrats and Republicans can vote on these amendments.
