Gateway Slope Notes #23 - “So Much Clearing and Grubbing!”
Wow, there is so much happening but you really can’t see it from Baltimore Avenue! So much clearing and grubbing is continuing. Please see attached pictures. With all the clearing happening, it’s important to realize the abundant plants, trees, and vegetation that will be placed along the walkway with this project. For example, I worked on projects that had no choice but to disturb wetlands. But then as a part of design, new wetlands were put in to balance those being removed. This is somewhat similar. Even though vegetation is being cleared, the carbon offset of adding so many trees and plants will make this Gateway Slope Park an amazing green space for generations to come. #GatewaySlopeNotes
Gateway Slope Notes #24 - “Utility Relocation”

I noticed there are more existing features being marked for demolition. There are also many proposed features near the Eldon Road/Baltimore Avenue intersection, including matching the existing sidewalk to the new multi-use path as well as removing the existing stone wall and adding in a new retaining wall. As such, there will need to be close coordination with the water utility as there is a significant water utility in this location (the utility handhole is circled in the attached picture). Utilities can be found all around us…. And they usually need to be avoided, adjusted, or relocated for construction projects. #GatewaySlopeNotes
