Join Lansdowne neighbors and friends for Earth Day on April 23rd from 11am to 3pm at Interboro Park.
Rain Date is April 30th
Lansdowne Borough and several of Lansdowne Boards including the Environmental Advisory Council, Parks and Recreation Board, and Shade Tree Commission will be hosting activities, food, and music throughout the day.
Activities will include:
- Free food!
- Free redbud tree seedlings for you to plant
- Construction of bird houses for teens (real carpentry!)
- Story time for children (for preschoolers and for preteens)
- Music
- Opportunities to check out grown-up, teen, and kids’ books about nature from the Lansdowne library’s mobile book cart (and to sign up for a library card if you need one)
- Bird-themed bingo—with prizes!
- Making nature-themed origami
- Opportunities to speak with local government officials about your environmental concerns
- Hands-on planting of trees in the park
- Nature poetry workshop (no poetry experience needed!!!)
- Opportunities to learn simple, money-saving ways to help the Earth
- “Pretend to be a bird” for preschoolers
- Bird-themed tongue-twister challenge—with prizes!
- Nature-themed coloring and word-searches for kids
- Making pretend binoculars for kids
- Guess the number of seeds in a jar to win the seeds and a bird feeder
