Hello Lansdowne!! Thank goodness for some rain finally!! I hope your gardens and lawns are thriving with the extra moisture!
I would like to start by giving an update on the Mayor’s Clean Team clean up initiative. So far, we have done 4 clean ups since May. Each month we have worked in a different area in town. So far, we have covered the area around Hays Park on Nyack between Union and Lansdowne Avenues, the area around Penn Wood High School, the parade route in the month of July and most recently the area around Pepper’s Pharmacy, covering Plumstead Ave and Marshall Road. I am so grateful to the small contingent of residents that have come to help out month after month. I also really love running into residents while cleaning up who are always so happy to see clean up taking place.
If you have some time, please consider joining us some Sunday to clean up. We meet at 10am and we usually pick up for about 2 hours. I have received a request to clean up on a different day – I will try to change it up when my schedule allows.
I would also like to encourage residents to please reach out if you know of a street or area that could use a visit from the Clean Team. You can email me at magda.lansdowne@gmail.com. Your suggestion may be the next area struck by the Mayor’s Clean Team!
Also, this month I am hosting my first Mayor’s Forum! My goal for these forums is to help residents know more about what we do as a borough, how we utilize our boards and commissions and more. Please join us at the Twentieth Century Club this Thursday, August 25th at 6pm to learn more about the Environmental Advisory Council (EAC), the kind of work they do and how council works with the EAC to be a more environmentally friendly community.
Lastly, in an effort to utilize as many platforms as possible to communicate with all of you, I have started my own Mayor’s Facebook page! I like the idea of being able to communicate with everyone in a more casual setting. If you are on Facebook, please consider following at Magda Byrne - Mayor of Lansdowne Borough.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and I hope to see you around town!
