On November 2nd, Lansdowne Borough Council officially dissolved the Public Health Board. The dissolution occurred due to the recently empowered Delaware County Health Department.
The action was not without remorse for the long standing important work of the resident volunteers who staffed the Board.
In fact, the Public Health Board was empowered within months of the incorporation of Lansdowne and were responsible for all aspects the health of Lansdowne residents: from records of Birth and Death, to a record of quarantines and infectious diseases, to regulations for milk delivery, fat content in buttercream, and the temperature of ice cream, and licenses for restaurants.
Lansdowne Borough Council wants to honor the many residents who most recently served on the Board and the many folks who looked out for the community's safety over the past century. Thank you.
