Governor Wolf Announces New Green Phase Metrics

Governor Wolf has announced new metrics that are being used to assess counties being considered to move into the Green Phase, as part of the Governor’s phased reopening for the state.

The State continues to use risk-based metrics from Carnegie Mellon University, with additional criteria including contact tracing and testing capability, a sustained reduction in COVID-19 hospitalizations, and infection rates, to make decisions on a county’s move into the Green Phase. After a county transitions to the Yellow Phase, the commonwealth will closely monitor for increased risk, such as significant outbreaks. If overall risk remains mitigated for fourteen days, the Governor will transition the county to the Green Phase.

Delaware County, with the support of the Chester County Health Department is currently meeting the criteria for the Yellow Phase which is the basis for the next step toward green phase reopening. The County officially moved into the Yellow Phase on June 5.

The need still greatly exists to balance resuming activities in the Yellow Phase with keeping case counts low. Residents are urged to take personal responsibility by continuing to follow the guidance under the Yellow Phase; including wearing a mask in public, adhering to social distancing guidelines, staying home if you are showing symptoms, working from home when feasible, and handwashing. These measures will allow us to continue to protect our community and allow us to safely get to the Green Phase as safely and quickly as possible.

The state’s dashboard with updated metrics can be found here: https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Pages/County-Dashboard.aspx

The Chester County Health Department also has a “Progress Towards Yellow” page, which shows the progress we’ve made as a community to get to the Yellow Phase.
